I stayed with Moya for a year, from 1995 to 1996, in Tadworth. Thalia and Lyndie were at universities, and I went to St. Bede's school. I will never forget how she took care of me when I was 17. Moya taught me so many things about the life in England, culture, how to communicate and everything. I used to go for a walk with Moya and Sam. Every Sunday, we went to church. Moya was running a program for kids at the church. We used to watch TV dramas together, the Bill, Casualty and Pride and Prejudice. I have so many good and precious memories. Her calm and warm words helped me so many times. When my posting in London was decided early this year, Moya was very happy and gave me lovely messages. I miss her a lot.

What we will remember most about Moya is her laugh, and her readiness to share it. Together with that, her quiet wisdom and emotional intelligence long before it had a name. What a privilege it was to know her.

I remember directing Moya in Dangerous Corner by J. B. Priestley for The Gage Players in 2012, and the fun we had trying different things out - like her purple hair on one occasion, I recall. Moya had a big smile and a rollicking laugh, full of the enjoyment of life, and could lift spirits with ease. She appeared in numerous other plays with the Gage, and a good few rehearsed readings too. She knew how to 'big' up a character when it was called for - she could outdo Lady Bracknell for capturing the audience's attention and liking: she was memorable. Most times her dear dog Digby came to rehearsals too - they loved each other.
I remember, too, visiting Moya in her Dorking home, and on one occasion taking some snowdrops in the green from my garden, which we planted in her garden, where they looked just right. We went for good walkabouts round Dorking and into St Peter's - Moya was easy to be with, and her presence and her effortless charm will be missed.

Moya was invariably kind to our disabled son and she adored her girls and her grandchildren. She was a fine defensive Bridge player, a demon at Scrabble and an enthusiastic thespian who once held the KADDS audience spellbound as Fairy Godmother. We shared many laughs both backstage and in the chorus line and will be much missed by all those who were lucky enough to know her. I found this picture of her on my phone, which was aptly named "Moya smiles".
