In loving memory of John Desmond Steele 'Des' who sadly passed away on 14th December 2015.

Family Flowers only please - if you would like to make a Donation in memory of Des, please follow the instructions at the side of the screen.

Des was a one off. He grew up in Seaforth and spent some time evacuated. In 1955 he married Bette and soon enough was sailing the world with the navy working in the laundry room. Des spent time in New York, South America and sailed around the horn of Africa.

Returning home he had a series of jobs to support his young family which now included Gary and Graham. From delivering movies to cinemas, selling alcohol and motor sales he found a vocation in printing and design.

A keen golfer Des also had a passion for wildlife and movies. A dappy dresser throughout life he spent his later years holidaying in Scotland with his beloved wife whilst entertaining his 5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren to whom he was known affectionately as Pop.

Des had a wonderful wit and an intelligent mind, he was always immaculately turned out and will live on in his family.

Pop, so many happy memories. You influenced me in so many ways. I used to love our chats about history, films, politics and sport. Even though you were not a football fan you always took an interest.

I'll always remember you taking me to the Open in the 90's. The highlight for me was meeting Tiger , but for you it was us meeting Seve. I'm sure you are having a game with him in the sky now.

You always had a joke or two to tell, and gave me some brilliant advice. I'm proud that Max has Des in his name. I hope I can be like you in life.
You are not just a memory Pop, you're a treasure.

Love Phil Becca Oscar and Max xxxxxx
