Neville Desmond Kirkpatrick (8 Nov 1942 - 3 Sep 2024)
Funeral Director
In loving memory of Neville Desmond Kirkpatrick who sadly passed away on 3rd September 2024.
A loved Dad to Dan, Grandpa to Matilda, Brother to Marion, Gerald, Ron and Anne, Husband to Sandra and friend to many. A true gentleman.
Neville was born in North Yorkshire on the 8th November 1942 to Reginald and Florence Kirkpatrick. He worked in a variety of jobs upon leaving Archbishop Holgate's including, perhaps unexpectedly to some of you reading this, lorry driving! He found his true calling in the late 1970s - a publican. Firstly at The Black Horse in Ainderby Quernhow and then The Fairfax Arms in Gilling East from 1984 - 1998. He moved with Sandra to Pocklington for a well earned retirement.
Retirement at the age of 55 was not really for Neville and after buying and running a shop in Skipton with Sandra for a couple of years he found a part time position more locally with RM English's in Pocklington. The barman life did eventually draw him back and he worked into his 70s a few evenings each week at The Plough in Hayton and The Hotham Arms. Following Sandra's passing in 2001, Neville found a real passion for walking (a founding member of the Pocklington Ramblers in 2003), long haul travel and golf. He then found a new passion on the 8th September 2021 - doting on his granddaughter, Matilda.

Neville at our wedding reception with cousin Betty and sister Anne, July 1994. Many happy memories, from babysitting us with Sandra many years ago, to our walks and trips out more recently. We will all miss you Neville

Nev and Sandra were the hosts, at what became the place to be, down at The Fax. Everyone thought Sandra called the shots but Nev always had the last say!

It took a lot of persuading to get Neville to get on a bus, but finally managed it in 2012 for a 12 mile walk back to Dalby Forest
