Sheila started me on my path in the travel industry way back in 1970. Always encouraging, motivating and fun with a twinkle and a spark for life. So sad I didn’t make it to Hythe recently to hear your latest stories which were always fun but will treasure our memories and friendship forever.
Rest in peace dearest Sheila. 🥀

I first met dear Sheila at work in 1972, and will never forget her invaluable help and advice over so many years. Always great company, bubbly and with a story to tell, she maintained such a positive attitude towards life and living. I loved her dearly as a special friend, and lady. Sadly, I will be unable to attend in person on Sept. 12th, but will do so remotely. Rest in peace, dearest Sheila.

In memory of my old boss, Sheila Gray, who became a lifelong friend, I’m so glad you came into my life. “It’s about people not places” you always said. You were right. Love you, and will miss you, your Dondi xx

I’ve known people whom I would rather forget, and I’ve known people who were ‘just there’ – walk-on actors, and then there was Sheila. She was like the brightest star in the night sky. Her smile and laughter lit up the times I met her. Sorry I can’t be there on the 12th, but I will think of her then, and not only then I will always remember her with great affection in the years to come.

Dear Sheila rest in peace my dear friend.Only met you 5 yrs ago by chance when I was riding my bike along the canal. I saw you looking so chic as you always did and we got chatting.
She invited me to call in and after that we had regular afternoon coffee.. we always then had a bottle of red wine and nibbles amongst funny stories laughs and music…..
Sometimes dancing round her beautiful house and I so enjoyed her company and personality.
She was so strong and positive and a .’class act’... I will miss you and our times together but I just wanted to say 🍷cheers Darling and your memory will live on for those of us who knew you…Thank you Sheila xxxx

John Lunn donated £100 in memory of Sheila

I first met Sheila in the early 1960’s when she was working for Mike Jackson, after she left him she joined Jimmy Gill and subsequently joined Willis East, a Management Company based in Nottinghill Gate, they separated Michael East then moved into Eastcastle Street, just off Oxford Street and Sheila moved with him.
Shortly after this Sheila set up on her own and became extremely successful.
Sheila supplied staff to me and my Company for almost forty years and we never used anyone else during this time.
She had the ability of sending the right people to the right Company and for my part never got it wrong.
She had an outgoing personality, approachable and friendly who could put people at their ease the moment she met them.
I can pay her no higher tribute than to say that she was one of a kind, that will never be repeated and will be sorely missed by everyone who had the privilege and pleasure of knowing her.
May she rest in peace.
Doreen and Don Lunn

  • Don I was one of those Sheila sent to you in 1970 when she was working with Jimmy Hill. Thus started my career of 50 years in the travel industry and a friendship with Sheila that lasted ever since. Hope you are doing well. Christine

Dearest Sheila... What a wonderful, warm, kind, generous and downright glamorous woman you were. I worked in your office at the Fruit Exchange in 2002 for a short time and I remember the ridiculously strong tea, lots of biscuits and many giggles. An extraordinary woman, I will never forget you. Rest in peace lovely Sheila.
