Gig, aged 64 of Teignmouth, peacefully passed away after battling with pancreatic cancer on July 20th, surrounded by all his loving family.

Gig’s memorial service/final concert will be held at Torquay crematorium on August 7th at 2:30pm followed by a celebration of his life from 3:30pm at Teignmouth rugby club. All are free to attend. We request that you wear something purple in honour of Gig’s favourite colour, if possible. Please also bring your best memory/craziest story of Gig.

Gig was born to Shirley and Gerald Phillips on July 9th 1960. He went to school at Inverteign and Teignmouth Secondary school. He married Mimi Styles on November 5th 1988 in St Michael’s church, Teignmouth. He worked as a sexton at Teignmouth cemetery and as a tool fitter at HS Hire for 27 years.

Gig was an amazing guitarist and was known to the masses for his musical talents. He had a passion for classic motorbikes and was known for his Triumph thunderbird. He also was an avid gardener tending to his many plants and bonsai trees.

Gig is preceded in death by Mike, Shirley and Gerald Phillips.

Gig is survived by his wife Mimi, his children Emily, Kristina and Jack Phillips, and his siblings Fran Millard, Lynda Leyman and Lisa Pringle.

We wish for any charity donations to go to Rowcroft, who have been amazing to Gig and his family.

So sad to hear of Gigs passing and really sad to have not kept in touch since we moved away, Gig and Mimi were very patient with us always visiting them, Gig built me guitar once and although I never mastered it , it was a joy to be taught by the best, we had loads of nights at the studio and various gigs around the south west when Gig and Mark Brett were in Gremlyn, in fact Gig and Mark brought Nikki up to the studio , that was where we first met, now been together for 30 years xx. Thank you and RIP xx
