Ann Drury passed away peacefully at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Burton on Trent aged 86.

She will be greatly missed by her family, daughters: Patricia & Siobáin, sons in law Mickey & Robin, her little brother Joe, special nieces Margaret & Gemma, her extended family in her home country of Ireland, friends Ann & Michael and her fabulous grandchildren who she loved dearly. Her face lit up a room when any of them were there: Emily, Rose, William, Phoebe, Joseph, Edie & Ilse.
She was the best mom ever, taught us all so much and we are grateful for all the time we had with her. She joins her family, and husband Brian who have passed before her and is reunited with her special sister Vera.

Ann didn't want a fuss, so there will be no ceremony, but a private cremation will take place on the 7th August if you would like to think of her then, in your own way.

Please share any special memories & photos here.

Ann, known as Annie, was born in Dublin, one of nine siblings. She came to Birmingham in her twenties and worked at Triplex Glass and Powergen. She met and married Brian Drury, they bought a house together in Nuneaton, had their children: first Patricia and Siobain five years later. They moved to Birmingham and then Wythall, where they had a long standing friendship with their neighbours Hugh & Mary, and Michael & Ann.

Ann had some serious health issues through her life but always battled on and bounced back, she was always busy, working, gardening, decorating, cooking. She was famously impatient, and enjoyed a good laugh, her family remember her laughing so hard she would get 'the pain!' She could be fierce, especially in defence of daughters and grandchildren, and she didn't suffer fools gladly but loved with her whole heart those that mattered to her.

Ann was independent and strong willed, living in her own home up until her death, she moved to be near her eldest daughter Patricia in Burton on Trent for her final years, where she was cared for in her own lovely home by daughter Patricia & son in law Mickey. Ann enjoyed frequent visits by her daughter Siobáin and all of her grandchildren and nieces Margaret & Gemma.

Ann leaves a wonderful legacy and many fond memories for us all to revisit. Always in our hearts.

Seeing my Nanny and talking to her on the ‘picture phone’ always filled my heart with joy. She was such a special lady and everyone who met her could see how wonderful she was. She was so proud of her children and grandchildren and would always say “I could cry!” every time she spoke about how ‘fabulous’ we all were. I love you to pieces Nanny, I’ll always be your malahide cod! ❤️
