With profound sorrow, we announce the passing of Mr. Athula Withanage on Friday, 1st March 2024, leaving behind a legacy of compassion, dedication, and boundless achievement. Born in Gonagalapura, Sri Lanka, Mr. Withanage's journey led him to become a respected Clinical Director and Lead Clinician in General & Vascular Surgery at Withybush Hospital in Haverfordwest, Wales.

Throughout his illustrious career, Mr. Withanage touched countless lives with his Surgical expertise and unwavering commitment to excellence. Whether guiding aspiring Surgeons through their training or performing intricate procedures, he approached each task with compassion and dedication.

Mr. Withanage was not only a skilled Surgeon but also a man of diverse talents and passions. An accomplished writer and actor, he captivated audiences with his creativity and artistry, leaving an indelible mark on the literary and theatrical communities.

At the centre of Mr. Withanage's life was his family, whom he cherished above all else. He is survived by his loving wife Nelum, his children Triona, Shane, and Dylan, his son-in-law Rajindra and daughter-in-law Sumudu, and his grandchildren Kian, Liam, Shian, Riyon, Roshan, and Resan. His devotion to his family was unwavering, and his memory will forever be treasured by those who knew and loved him.

As we bid farewell to Mr. Withanage, we take comfort in the knowledge that his legacy will endure through the lives he touched and the memories he created. May he rest in peace, knowing that his life was a testament to the power of love, compassion, and dedication.

A funeral service to honour and celebrate the life of Mr. Withanage will be held at Parc Gwyn Crematorium, Narberth on Saturday, 23rd March 2024 at 12:15pm followed by refreshments at Hotel Plas Hyfryd Narberth from 1.15pm onwards.

There will be family flowers only, with donations in lieu, if so desired, to Withybush General Hospital, c/o E.C. Thomas & Son Funeral Directors, Zoar Chapel Funeral Home, Llanteg, Narberth SA67 8QH (01834) 831876
