Alan was a wonderful, kind and caring Husband, Father and Grandfather. He was our rock.
His memory will live forever in our hearts, there are no words to express our sadness.
He touched the hearts and minds of thousands of pupils over 44 years in teaching, He always made learning fun, was passionate about his job and was "born to be a teacher".
Above all he took pride in everyone's achievements, always celebrated them and offered endless support and encouragement.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Alan and I shared some great experiences. School trips will never be the same again. He was a wonderful teacher who did great assemblies. It's been a long time but I have many good memories. He will be missed by friends and family. Thinking of you all today. Sorry I can't be there.

Thinking of you all. Alan came to Blackfield Junior School as Deputy Head, the youngest in the county at that time. He was a brilliant teacher, a wonderful colleague and became a good friend. There was so much fun to be had in everything he did...assemblies, games sessions, residential trips.
In true deadpan fashion, he once asked for "150 orange Juices, please," on the return journey from Westward Ho!, an Easter holiday trip with three coachloads of children. The cafe owner hadn't seen the coaches parked farther away, and was stunned. Just one of many happy memories.
