I am very saddened to learn about Colin's passing. I've spoken to him a few times before and after Irene's passing but lost contact with him in the past few years. I have very fond memories of them both, having spent time with them and Paul in England (maybe you and Alastair remember?) and New York, as well as meeting them both in Florida once or twice. What a wonderful couple. As you are probably aware, I first met Colin (and Paul) through business where the joint relationship blossomed into a wonderful and successful collaboration and a great friendship. He had a rare talent in business when he knew exactly when to be serious and exactly when to be funny, and everyone loved him. He was very endearing.
Never had I had so much fun with someone as I did with Colin. From the first time I introduced him to jalapeno peppers, to the time when he and I were planning to visit a big account in California and he learned that California had just recently become the first in the U.S. to ban smoking indoors. You can imagine how funny that trip was.
I’m not sure if it is used in England or not, but here in the U.S. we have an expression where you can describe someone as “the salt of the earth” which, according to Oxford means a person or group of people of great kindness, reliability, or honesty. I will add to that, hardworking, down to earth, great sense of humor, unpretentious, and someone you wanted to be around. That described Colin perfectly. I miss him very much.
Rest in peace Colin.

A note from Abigail:
Grandad's funeral will be taking place at Shay Grange Crematorium, Long Lane, Shipley BD9 6ST at 1:30pm on Thursday 7th March.
Grandad was an avid lover of all things golf and he travelled the world on business trips with my late father Paul, and on holidays with his late wife Irene. There are many people who he would have met along the way, who I have no way of getting in contact with.
Please therefore do feel free to share this link with anyone who may wish to know of Grandad's passing and attend the funeral. We as a family would love to hear of any fond memories you have of Grandad so please do share them here.
Thank you to everyone who has already sent cards, flowers and other messages of condolences. They are very much appreciated and we are thankful for your kind gestures 🙏
Best wishes,
Abigail
