On Sunday January 28th, 2024, Barry was called home at the age of 79. The world has lost a kind, generous and caring, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend.
If you asked Barry what his greatest accomplishment was it would be marrying his beloved wife Sandra of 58 years and having two loving children Phil and Tina. Barry was all about family and friends and would help anyone, without question.
He was a big kid at heart and would love a laugh and joke. He loved his cars having an old orange Land Rover where the electrics caught light when we were coming back from visiting his lifelong friend Brian Bowden, we had to go down country lanes with no headlights on in the pitch dark. To an old Capri where he resprayed it himself, and an old MG, this story is someone else’s memory which I would like to share, ‘Barry took me once for a drive in Canterbury in the old MG, when I told him about a bump in the road, he said okay, looked at me smiled and put his foot down. We got air off the jump…’ this was just like Barry.
The one thing that I keep hearing is that ‘I wouldn’t be where I am today if it wasn’t for Barry’.
