Christine was a very much loved mum, grandma, great grandma, auntie and friend. She was born in Marlow, Buckinghamshire on the 10th May 1926, the first child of Cyril Francis and Christine Emily Ann Smith. The family were soon joined by Joyce Winifred, a sister for Christine. When she was nine the family moved to Reigate. Years later she met John Alan Steer and they were married at St. Mary's Parish Church in Chart Lane, Reigate on the 3rd of September 1949. The couple had 3 children Kevin, Alan and Alison and continued to live in Reigate. Christine worked for the Crusader Insurance Company on Cockshot Hill, Woodhatch as a section head in data processing and then as a computer tape librarian. They moved to Horley and then after retirement they moved on to Smallfield. John died in 2014 and Christine died in the East Surrey Hospital 9 years after John, following a short illness, on the 29th January 2024. She leaves behind 2 sons, a daughter, 2 daughters in law, a son in law, 5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
It is a comfort to know that Christine and John had 65 very happy years of marriage together, they travelled extensively, had many hobbies and enjoyed looking after their garden.

She was the best mum-in-law I could have wished for. I enjoyed our chats, lunches, afternoon teas and of course glasses of champagne or prosecco! I’ll miss her.

The best old bag a grandson could have hoped for. Will miss her cowboy breakfasts and cheeky grin.
