In loving memory of June Lufkin who sadly passed away on 20th January 2024
Born on 4th October 1931 in the district of Wandsworth sub district Clapham.
Having 2 sisters Marjorie and Barbara. Barbara and June being the mischief pair, like 2 peas in a pod. They decided to try their fathers cigarettes one day thinking their father was out. Big mistake, they heard him come in ,where could they put the cigarette, in the piano seemed the only place. But as you guessed they were found out. Off came their fathers belt....
June worked in a grocery store and Albert next door in a butchers shop. They started talking through a hole in the dividing fence and thats how the relationship blossomed.
They started seeing each other but June's father was very strict and she had to be home at a certain time. On one occasion they got home late and June's father was at the gate waiting for them. June and Albert looked at each other knowing he was waiting for them. He told Albert to clear off saying not to bother coming around again for June.
But still they managed to see each other and keep in touch one way or the other.Albert writing love letters to June telling her what his day had been like without her and he had been cleaning his prized motorbike and thinking of her.
In 1949 June and Albert married and spent their honeymoon travelling round Cornwell on Albert's motorbike.
They went on to have 3 children Len, Linda and Richard.
Albert worked as a butchery manager and also repairing wireless of an evening . Their goal was to have a shop of their own.
Their goal was achieved....they rented a butchers shop in Eastwood Essex. Working hard they then achieved another goal owning their own shop in Elmswell, Suffolk but this time a hardware Shop. Village life being very different to the life in Essex. But they loved it nothing was any trouble for them . They moved to Suffolk in 1972 and retired in 1999.
Albert passed away in 2002 having prostrate cancer.June took comfort with her children and her beloved dog Peggy. Peggy was her world.
June was diagnosed with dementia in 2017 and the rest you know.
