Dorothy Ellen Paris (15 Nov 1937 - 12 Dec 2023)

Rest in peace Aunty Dot and thanks for everything Love Vaughan, Mel Aaron and Zack

I first met Dorothy 30 years ago at the Retford Floral Society. We soon became friends through a love of flowers. It became apparent that we had many similar likes and dislikes!!!
When visiting Dorothy and soon to meet Mike,I was always warmly welcomed with their hospitality and friendship, they would both tell' you how it was' whether it was what you wanted to hear or not! (Always truthful)
Years later when I started my family, both Henry and Ralph were always welcomed with open arms, their love just seemed to grow and extend to us all.
The boys tried many times to get Mike doing forward rolls on the kitchen floor, much to the amusement of Dorothy, while she made us the tea and cakes,always an event!
We will very much miss you Dorothy, we have lost a caring,compassionate and valued friend, that was always there for us.

Jam will never be the same again.

Your glass was always half full and never half empty. We always felt better when we left Dot and Mike’s house …. Probably the sherry and mini bottles of lemonade, not to mention the cakes and jam . Heaven has gained an amazing jam maker . Thank you for your amazing kindness , we will miss you. Rest in peace , reunited with Uncle Mike . Forever in our thoughts,

Our memories go back to 1965 when Robert went to work at Hempsalls. Dorothy was kind and welcoming to the new boy on the farm.
I came next in 1966 and we set up home in East Markham. We became good friends with Mike and Dorothy. On 24 July 1968 Robert and I were in Walesby Church to witness to Mike and Dorothy's wedding and in 1993 we celebrated their 25th Wedding Anniversary together.
After David was born in 1968 Dorothy was a great support. He loved spending time with her. David and Penny, their Springer Spaniel dog, were inseperable and we found out why. They discovered the cupboard where Mike kept his favourite Cadbury's orange cream biscuits and shared them! Not a cross word was said!
And, yes, Peter, I remember the binoculars and the hole in the hedge. Dorothy and I would stand at the kitchen window and observe the comings and goings on the farm, mainly Mike and Robert.
In 1970 Robert left Hempsalls for pastures new. We remained firm friends with Mike and Dorothy and whenever we were together we picked up where we left off. Time changed nothing.
Memories come flooding back. Dorothy was fun to be with, said it as it was, she was kind and caring. A good friend. Fly high, Dorothy. Robert and Christine
