In loving memory of Kenneth Newton who sadly passed away on 11th November 2023

Ken Newton loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away peacefully with family around him on Saturday 11th November.

Ken was born to Edith and Harry Newton on 3rd September 1944.

Ken and Maggie married on October 24th 1974 followed soon after, by the birth of their first son Jamie, closely followed by their number one daughter Katy and another two sons, Rob and Kit.

Life was busy with a menagerie of animals and his dream of a self sustaining country life. Hunter, fisherman, Jockey, off-roader, self taught musician, outdoor pursuits instructor (too many to write), were some of his achieved dreams he followed through out his busy life, along with teaching and then re training himself as an IT consultant, he was a jack of all trades.

Life was always busy with animals to care for including his two horses, several pigs, dogs, goats and chickens not to mention his 4 children, who were by no means easy work (he always said dogs were easier than kids)

Ken and Maggie bought their rundown cottage and together built their dream family home, which would then become a home of love and celebrations throughout the years.

Retirement arrived and Ken and Maggie undertook their dream of travelling. 7 weeks touring around New Zealand became a reality and with their camper, began their adventure around New Zealand, experiencing and making new memories together!

Time was very quickly filled with an abundance of grand children. Hannah, Kiera, Oliver, Aaliyah, Harry, Sam, Toby, Lucy, Rosie and Riley. Recently added to with his great grand children Honey and Star.

For someone who wasn’t a big fan of social events, family get togethers soon became huge social events and this is reflected by the influx of love and shock we have received since his peaceful, but as we all agree far too early death.

We as a family are absolutely heart broken by the death of our father, husband, grandfather and great father but we hold peace in our hearts that he, himself is in peace. Even in the last moments of his life he wasn’t sure if he was ready! After fighting several illnesses he lay next to his daughter Katy and said “they said come now you’ll enjoy it, but I don’t know what do! Shall I go?, “they’re getting bored now waiting! Should I go?”

A strong man who fought to the very last second he will be very sadly missed and a part of our hearts eternally broken.

We ask you to join us to celebrate this remarkable man who as a father taught us to never give up! To live our dreams.

Ken’s funeral will be held on 1st December at 11:00am in Our Lady of Perpetual Help RC Church, Market Weighton
Followed by Haltemprice crematorium, and then to the Red Lion Hotel at 13:30 to celebrate Ken.

Heartbroken for you all, Ken was my godfather and a wonderful human, I have nothing but wonderful memories spent with Ken and your family as a child on holiday or at your home and wonderful get togethers at Christmas and throughout the year, Ken taught me to ride a horse and gave me my love for horses something I now share with my kids. He will be sadly missed and thought of fondly with love. Much love to Maggie, Jamie, Katy, Robbie, kit, and their families
