In loving memory of Steven Edward Underdown who sadly passed away from skin cancer at the age of 65 on 16th October 2023 leaving behind his 3 children Daniel, Adam, Sarah, his partner Moyra and their families.

Steve passed peacefully with his loved ones and has left a big hole in many peoples lives.

He has given us lots of happy memories and will be sorely missed by everyone that knew him. Please also leave your memories on here so we can all enjoy them all together.

Steve's funeral will be held at Southend Crematorium at 1:20pm on Tuesday 28th November 2023. Those attending please feel free to wear something blue as he was a lifelong Chelsea supporter.

Steve was adamant that he didn't want people to buy flowers however would like people to plant flowers in his memory. Little packets of forget me nots will be available for you to take. If you would like to make a donation to chosen charities you can do so using this website.

Following on from the funeral we will be celebrating Steve's life at Thorpe Hall Golf Club which will be ready to receive guests from 2:30pm. There will be light refreshments available including tea and coffee. There is also a bar for those who would like to toast his memory.

There is plenty of parking available along with wheelchair access.

Address for the wake :

Thorpe Hall Avenue, Thorpe Bay, Southend on sea, SS1 3AT

Steve wasn’t just my late dad’s gardener, he became a friend who my dad was very fond of. Will miss his enthusiasm for gardening, and the happiness on his face when he spoke of his grandchildren. He will be sadly missed xx

  • Steve thought a lot of your dad and was upset when he passed. X

  • I was so upset I couldn’t attend the funeral due to a virus moyra, but watched online. You and Steve’s family gave him a lovely send off, and I’m sure my dad would have been waiting to greet him, with his favourite tea and biscuits xx

Steve is sadly missed. We happily worked in my garden the last few years, talking plants, position and colours in my garden and in his. Always positive, enjoying chat over cuppas and biscuits … or cake! Rest in peace Steve.
