In loving memory of Charles Sheldon who sadly passed away on 28th October 2015

Charlie spent his early years in Stanton in the peak, Rowsley area of Derbyshire, before moving with his life long friend Eric Hallam, to work in the pits during the war. He took lodgings with Mrs Pepper on Mansfield Road, South Normanton, and started courting Mary, who lived round the corner at Sycamore Farm Storth Lane.

After spending his national service in the Army, mostly in Germany, he came home and married his sweet heart Mary, as Mary's father was at the end of his life, they set up home at the family farm on Storth Lane. After raising 2 children Geoffrey and Elizabeth (Libby) the farm, with 2 others, were purchased by the council, the result being, the Broadmeadows. Mary, not wanting to leave Storth Lane, they purchased No3, at that time there where only 4 houses at the top of Storth Lane, plus the burnt out remains of the Storthfield Club. As they got older and a local builder started a small development of bungalows opposite, they decided to move into 5 Storth Lane, which was to be there last move. So Mary had her wish of living in the Lane all her life.

On Mary's death in 2001, Charlie had been suffering with dementia for a number of years, so Libby and Mick moved in to be his full time carers, which lasted till a couple of years ago, when Charlie moved into a nursing care home, after constant chest infections and being bed bound for the last few months he passed away peacefully.

Charlie leaves
Son Geoffrey and wife Lyn, Grandaughter Sarah and husband David, Great grandaughters Kelsie, Tierney and Grandson Andrew.
Daughter Libby and husband Mick, Grandson Ashley and Great Grandson Reilly.

The family have decided that any donations will go to Motor Neurone Disease Ass. As his son Geoffrey is suffering from this awful condition and any help would be gratefully received.

THANKYOU.
