In loving memory of Derek Luther who sadly passed away on 8th August 2023. He will be deeply missed by his partner Joan; children Jo, Ian and Catherine; his sister Emmy; brother Richard and all their families. He was adored by his grandchildren for his fun-loving and kind spirited nature.

His funeral will be held at Poole Crematorium on Thursday 31st August at 1pm. Family flowers only please, with the exception of fuchsias, those who knew Derek, will know how important those were to him, throughout his life!

We have chosen a charity that we feel sits closely with Derek's values in life - 'Thrive' is a charity which uses gardening to bring about positive changes in the lives of people living with disabilities or ill health, or who are isolated, disadvantaged or vulnerable.

Please join us afterwards for refreshments at The Riverside Suite,

Derek used to pen the odd poem, as many of you knew, most with a cheeky punch line. On one occasion while I was suffering from covid he wrote me a little poem and it made me laugh so much I had a coughing fit. Later I wrote him one back, and this seems fitting to be shared here:
There was an ex-firefighter called Derek
Who could diffuse tempers quite pyrrhic,
With a smile and a twinkle,
A rhyme and a dimple,
He could smooth out moods - it's that simple!
Miss you Derek
Sarah 😊
