Dear Dad, thank you for everything you did in this world. You leave behind a beautiful legacy. I am truly grateful that you gave me a friend and sister for life in Mercy who I know you are immensely proud of. You are so loved and missed by many people but we you are with God now and ready to embark on your next journey. We will meet you there when God calls us back like he did you. Until then dad, keep laughing, chatting and loving to the fullest. X

I find comfort in the legacy Grandad leaves behind and the countless cherished memories I hold dear. His legacy of kindness and laughter will be cherished, and his spirit will continue to inspire those he touched.

He was not just a grandfather; he was a beacon of wisdom, kindness, and unwavering love. His presence lit up every room he entered, and his infectious laughter could brighten even the darkest of days. I was blessed to have him as a guiding light in my life, imparting lessons that will continue to resonate through generations.

From his stories of days gone by to his words of encouragement during times of hardship, he showed us the importance of resilience and compassion. He instilled in us the value of family, the significance of forging lasting friendships, and the joy of simple pleasures. His life was a testament to the beauty of forging connections and nurturing the bonds that truly matter.

As we lay Grandad to rest, I will remember the times we shared, the laughter we exchanged, and the love that will forever remain etched in my heart. Though he may have left this earthly realm, his spirit lives on in the many lives he touched and the memories he created.

I will honour Grandad's memory by carrying forward the lessons he taught me and embracing the qualities he embodied. In doing so, I hope to keep his legacy alive, ensuring that his spirit continues to guide and inspire me each day.

It’s a bitter sweet truth that my daughter, Christine born days after my Grandad’s passing will not experience firsthand his warmth, wisdom and kindness and it is now my job to make her aware of the legacy of her wonderful Great Grandad.

Rest in peace, Grandad. You may be gone from our sight, but you will never be absent from our hearts.

Joy

My remarkable Daddy, who held a special place in all our lives. The void in our hearts can never be filled. Daddy’s nurturing spirit extended far beyond his role as a father. His wisdom, charisma, guidance transformed ordinary memories into cherished memories. I think of the parables he taught us both fondly and daily.

Before Daddy’s passing we would laugh and giggle over each parable, the meaning and his teachings. He was often impressed that we would remember them all. It’s a honour to pass his teachings on to the grandchildren.

In Daddy’s role as a father he was a beacon of support to children, grandchildren, grandchildren nieces, nephews and great nieces . His love was never limited he is extended his love to all and acting as father to all that new him. Daddy created such a positive and lasting impression on everyone he met.

A true family man, Daddy found immense joy in spending time with his loved ones. He adored his grandchildren, great grandchildren and great nieces. The gatherings were always filled with love, laughter and course the obligatory request for someone to fix something new he just purchased. He absolutely loved technology.

Daddy’s love wasn’t just limited to his family he extended his care to his community as well. His altruistic nature was reflected in his acts of kindness and generosity. With these acts he presented humbleness and humility. He was never boastful and you would quite often not hear of his charity work, donations or community support until many years later if at all. Daddy was a regular feature at the church with a huge commitment to making a world a better place. This was a testament to his exceptional character.

I would never say goodbye to our Daddy but we will say sleep tight. We will find solace in the countless memories we share and the lessons he taught us. His spirit will forever reside in all our hearts.

In grief, let us remember the twinkle in Daddy's eyes, he laughter that was filled with bass, the warmth of his embrace and the wisdom of his words. Let’s all honour his memory by continuing to live our lives with love, compassion, and integrity that Daddy exemplified.

Daddy, we will always love you and nothing will fill our whole left behind.

Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather to many passed away peacefully on 23rd July 2023, surrounded by his loving family.

Rowland Orugboh was born in 1939 in Eku, a town in Delta State, Nigeria. He left Sapele for Lagos in the late 1950s, where he assumed a number of roles including working for the renowned United Africa Company of Nigeria (UAC), a Nigerian publicly listed company based in Lagos. From there he relocated to the UK and was later joined by his wife Agnes in the 1960s.

Whilst in the UK, he gained a Chartered Institute of Marketing qualification and also ran an import/export business with his wife.
Together they lovingly raised seven children, sixteen grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.

He dedicated his life to serving God, rising through the ranks of Celestial Church of Christ to become the Special Superior Evangelist. Outside of his faith, he was a dedicated family man, loving husband with a heart for helping people in need through his charitable donations. He was well-regarded and respected within his local community and church family.

Rowland was an advocate for gender equality within his interpersonal relationships, whilst actively promoting education as a means of achieving social mobility and societal change. He was a firm believer that “whatever a man could do, a woman could do too”.

Rowland Orugboh was a skilled orator, often sharing stories from his childhood, family history and heritage, he was also an avid sports lover with a particular interest in football and boxing.

He was one of 36 children and was the last surviving member of the direct Orugboh descendants.

Special Superior Evangelist Orugboh is survived by his wife, Agnes Orugboh, seven children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He will be remembered for his deep love of God, and his family, his smile that lit up a room, his wise words and quick wit. He was kind and compassionate. He made an impact on many lives. He will be missed dearly.
