In loving memory of Vivian Joyce Ostler who sadly passed away on 19th June 2023

Beautiful Viv was born in Lincoln, on the 11th December 1943, to Lillian and Charles Young (Betty and Charlie) and moved to West Parley, Ferndown when she was 2 years old.

Viv grew up with her 2 sisters, Sueanne and Eileen (Deeney) in their home, Holmdale, Barrack road, West Parley and went to school at Queen Elizabeth in Wimborne.

Viv met Dennis in 1960, they married and have 3 children, one of each; Julie, Kevin and Nicholas. Nicky being the favourite. ;)

Viv worked the twilight shift as supervisor at Max Factor and later at the Roxy bingo hall in Holdenhurst Road, a job she absolutely loved.

We met in 1984 at the Norfolk hotel in Bournemouth through Nick and friends. At first sight Cupids arrows embedded deep into our souls and we became inseparable, spending the next 39 years together.

During these 39 years, we owned a number of pubs together, Viv possibly being the only pub landlady in the country that did not drink, and continued her abstinence, though before becoming a landlady Viv did enjoy a party. ;)

In 1992 beloved Tia became part of the family bringing so much joy into her life.

We shared our love of being landlords and also travelling. Among the cruises and many destinations around the world The USA was her favourite, holidaying in Florida and then owning a house together in Las Vegas, where we met lovely friends. All of the local casinos in Las Vegas had bingo halls – say no more.

In 2009 we finally settled in Westbourne where Viv was really happy.

Viv loved her bingo and sadly she lost contact with her friends when her local bingo hall in Westbourne closed.

Viv also loved watching forensic detective documentaries and animal programs. Her face would light up when watching a program of her favourite animal, the Tiger.

Viv has 3 children, 7 grandchildren, Matthew, Richard, Vicki, Daniel, Lee, Jordon and Ryan and 10 great grandchildren.

Your insights, thoughts and humorous take on the world at large will be sorely missed by me, and by everyone who knew you. Thank you for being such a wonderful partner to John.
