In loving memory of Karen Hamilton (McCluskey) aged 59yrs who sadly passed away on 25th May 2023.

Please leave your messages, stories and photos here. We would love to hear from you in remembrance of Karen.

The service will take place at Linn Crem. Thursday 8th June 3pm.

We would respectfully ask for no flowers. If you wish, a donation can be made to our charity of choice that provided much support to both Karen and Iain during difficult times- Chest Heart Stroke Scotland. Please see Charity link.

They say that you die twice. One time when you stop breathing and a second time, when somebody says your name for the last time. Karen is gone, but certainly never forgotten. Let's all raise a glass together and have a good laugh at the end, it's how Karen would have wanted it... to Karen!

Karen would have loved this short poem by Kelly Roper as a way of inviting everyone to join us at No. 10 Hotel. Queens Drive. following the service...

PARDON ME FOR NOT GETTING UP
Oh dear, if you’re reading this right now,
I must have given up the ghost.
I hope you can forgive me for being
Such a stiff and unwelcoming host.

Just talk amongst yourself my friends,
And share a toast or two.
For I am sure you will remember well
How I loved to drink with you.

Don’t worry about mourning me,
I was never easy to offend.
Feel free to share a story at my expense
And we’ll have a good laugh at the end.
(By Kelly Roper).

Karen was many things to many people - a soul-mate, wife, mother, sister, aunty, great aunty, cousin, niece, some wummin, and most of all a friend to us all.

FAREWELL MY FRIENDS (a poem from your departed friend to you)

It was beautiful
as long as it lasted
the journey of my life.
I have no regrets
whatsoever save
the pain I’ll leave behind.
Those dear hearts
who love and care
and the heavy with sleep
ever moist eyes.
The smile, in spite of a
lump in the throat
and the strings pulling
at the heart and soul.
The strong arms
that held me up
when my own strength
let me down.
Each morsel that I was
fed with was full of love divine.
At every turning of my life
I came across
good friends.
Friends who stood by me
even when the time raced by.
Farewell, Farewell
my friends.
I smile and bid you goodbye.
No, shed no tears,
for I need them not
All I need is your smile.
If you feel sad
think of me
for that’s what I’d like.
When you live in the hearts
of those you love,
remember then….
you never die.
(By Rabindranath Tagore)

Karen, I know we’ve not seen each other in years. You are gone (far to early), but definitely not forgotten. I have some very fond memories of us and I will continue to keep them close to my heart.
Thank you for being a wonderful older cousin to me. I will miss you more than you will ever know.
Rest In Peace. Love always, your wee cousin Kirsty xx

Karen was not only my sister, my wee sister, but also my first friend! My heart ❤️ is broken and I miss you everday. But I know what you would say to me- I can hear your voice in my head (no not 'rocket man') saying, celebrate and love me through life and not death- or to put it another way- party on brother! Xx
Love you Sis xx

  • I think I can make out your sister Lesley on back row Steven? Karen looks so very angelic lol. I think this would have been taken around the same time I got pulled out of class because she came into school with a full face of heavy makeup on. I'm like, she's not my responsibility, what do you want me to do lol.

Cath & I attended many great rock concerts with Karen & Iain over the years. Now Karen's off to see The Great Gig in the Sky. Lots of happy memories, but she has left us far too soon :(
