Devastated …… when things were bad for me she could get me moving with a sarcastic enquiry. Always there for other people. In better times the love of Harlequins and my support of Bath was all good for an exchange of insults or an invite to watch when head to head

She was the girl that I met on a bus
We sat at the front with eyes just for us
The rest of the world might as well not be there
As we chuckled and laughed like we just didn’t care

64 years ago, that’s when we met
A time in my life I will never forget
She was my first ever girlfriend ‘till then
I was first boyfriend for my darling Jen.

Our minds were naive and our thoughts so, so clean
Innocents abroad in a world that’s so mean
What could we think, we were only eleven
It’s hard to believe that dear Jen’s now in heaven.
