It was such a privilege to be present for Mike's memorial service. Thankyou for inviting me Dodie. I have such fond memories of both of you. I was only about 10 years old when Mike moved to Ipswich and he made a great impression on me with his zeal for the ministry, fun loving personality, funny laugh and nicknames. He used to come once a week for a dinner and he'd sit with me watching cartoons on the TV. I remember the great barn dances at your bungalow and then the amazing hospitality you both showed us when we were between homes and you invited us to live with you both until our new place was ready. Now I'm older, I appreciate more than I did then how kind that was of you when you'd not long been married. I was so sad to hear of Mike's illness and can't imagine how awful it must be for you to be separated after so many years. I pray that our hope strengthens and comforts you at this difficult time and that the weeks pass quickly until you see each other again under much better circumstances. Sending you my love Sian x

I remember so well the time spent in Montpellier with you, Dodie, and Mike.
It was always fun to be around you both. Mike always had some jokes for the young ones!
I will always remember how, thanks to him, all the young ones of the congregation learnt Prov 27:11 by heart and how we all were so happy to quote it during the watchtower study.
I can’t wait to see him again in paradise.
May Jehovah continue to help you in the difficult times.
With all my love

Dear Dodie,

Yesterday's talk summed up the wonderful life you have both enjoyed so far. The best forever is not far away. We look forward to sharing it with you both. Mike and I can continue playing squash and disagreeing over the score and who is the better player. Sarah and I have many fond memories such as tearing our house apart for a remodel and walking on floor joists for weeks. Good conversations food and wine. The stuff good living is made of. We look forward to more of it together soon.
Through your faithfulness Jehovah has provided you a wonderful family of brothers and sisters to support you until then.
May Jehovah continue to bless and support you sister.

Phileo

Mike was one of our best mentors ever, teaching us especially that “it’s so good to be bad”, as he used to say. As soon as we met in Luton 16 years ago, we were adopted as the French “little Mike & Dodie”. Always smiling, making jokes and playing on words, he was also very patient with us with our English and always focusing on the potential in each one. We are missing him but we cherish the precious memories we shared together either in England or in France and we look forward to meeting him again very soon, young and healthy. Isaiah 60:19,20 reads “For you the sun will no longer be a light by day, Nor will the shining of the moon give you light, For Jehovah will become to you an eternal light, And your God will be your beauty. No more will your sun set, Nor will your moon wane, For Jehovah will become for you an eternal light, And the days of your mourning will have ended.” He is now in Jehovah’s memory and
he will never have to suffer pain again.
And for our dear friend Dodie, we pray for Jehovah to support you until the day you will be together again and may these words found in Ps 91:2 & v5 be yours: “I will say to Jehovah: ‘You are my refuge and my stronghold, My God in whom I trust.’ […] You will not fear the terrors of the night, Nor the arrow that flies by day”.
With all our love,
My & Gui ❤️❤️

I will never forget the first time I heard one of Mike talk more than ten years ago. It was my first English assembly in the south of France. The words he spoke to the four-hundred-something that day. Still echo to this day. "We want you. We need you, we love you", a call to action to serve Jehovah fully answered by many. Today, the time has come to turn a new page and seek new spiritual adventures. Tonton Mike's words are as motivating and encouraging as ever. Thank you!

Fond memories of Michael. He would take me out on his Honda when he was pioneering in Byfleet. Once, we worked my road and all the kids I knew followed us. when they asked what we we're doing Michael said tell them we're selling tooth brushes :)
I was able to remind him of that when he stood in for the CO at Leamington Spa ( Brixton days)

I have fond memories of your visits in our Liverpool circuit. I was around 16 years of age and just going to start out on my own full time service experience. Little did I know that we would meet up again years later in the south of France. With Sébastien we were starting our second circuit. How awkward we felt doing our circuit week for a circuit overseer and his wife. Of course very quickly you made the awkwardness go away. We were soon laughing and learning from your experience. Thankyou for the privilege of working alongside you the service and pioneer schools. We loved Mike very much and we love you dearly Dodie. May Jehovah keep your heart safe!!

I was baptised in 1970 and in my early years Mike helped me to progress. He sometimes gave me a lift to the meetings in Cavendish Street. One winters day he called for me in his little black sports car and decided to go to the hall via Devonshire Hill. It was, very icy. I thought "Oh no!!" but I had no need to worry as we did stop at the bottom. I will always treasure knowing Mike. My sincere condolences to you, Dodie and my heart goes out to you. May Jehovah comfort you until you and Mike are reunited.

I am so sorry for your loss Dodie and pray that Jehovah will continue to comfort and support you over the coming weeks, months and even years, should this system go on that long. I didn’t know Mike hardly at all, just at the end of his life but I can tell he was a faithful brother and loving husband and after hearing the service today, we only scratched the surface of his sense of humour and personality. How we can’t wait to get to know him properly in the new world along with the many other loved ones we’ve lost. I’m here for you if there is anything I can do to help Dodie. Sending you my warm love and big hugs. Lyndsey xxx
