On 4th May 2023, whilst in the safe care of Kirkwood Hospice, of Shaw Cross, aged 81 years, John, beloved husband of the late Pat, dearly loved dad of Vicky, Stephanie, James and Matthew, a dear father in law, loving grandad and great grandad and very dear companion of Irene.
A reyt good celebration of a reyt Yorkshire lads life will take place at Dewsbury Moor Crematorium on Wednesday 31st May 2023 at 3pm, followed by refreshments at Hanging Heaton WMC. Friends and family please meet at the crematorium. Family flowers only, donations in his memory will be shared between Kirkwood Hospice, Yorkshire Air Ambulance and Help for Heroes, please forward to George Brooke Ltd., Funeral Directors or place in the collection box at the service.

I had the pleasure of meeting John (Jonty’s Pickles) on many occasions in my past role as Community Fundraiser at The Kirkwood. What a gentleman he was and his dedication and tireless fundraising in memory of his beloved Pat was incredible. Condolences to his family and friends, he will be sadly missed by many.

Dad, we all loved you so much. I can't express how much we will miss you, your enthusiasm, your vast knowledge and your kindness. You were always there when we needed you.
I'm so sorry that we didn't have longer with you.
You will leave an enormous hole in our lives.
