In loving memory of Kathleen Leigh who sadly passed away on 1st April 2023.

Kathleen was loved very much by our dad, Seamus, who sadly passed away in 2016. She leaves behind 4 daughters, Ann, Catherine, Teresa and Marion who loved her dearly. Her grandchildren couldn't have had a better Nanna - she was the best in the world and gave her love to them in bucket loads. Unfortunately dementia took so much away from mum but never the love she felt for us or her grandchildren. That never diminished. Even on the worst days she had a smile and hug for Cody, Ceara, Aaron and Madeleine.

Mum came over from Ireland when she was 19 with the offer of a nursing training place in Carshalton. This was what she had always wanted to do and she travelled far from home to fulfil that wish. She then spent the next 41 years looking after the elderly in Queens, Mayday and also in care homes. It was what she loved - looking after others and the care she gave them was second to none. She would have carried on for longer if her knees and hips had let her! But she replaced nursing with being a nanna which made her even happier.

We will miss Mum very much but she is now at peace. She suffered with dementia over the last 10 years with things gradually getting worse and she lost so much of herself because of this. In the last few years she gradually lost all her independence and even her mobility. For someone who was so incredibly strong of mind and body, it was cruel and very sad to see.

We know that she is now reunited with all her family who have gone before her and will be laughing and joking with them as she did in life. And probably having a good old dance.

Rest in peace Mum. Always loved, you will never be forgotten.

If you would like to join us to say goodbye to Mum her funeral mass will be held at St. Joseph's Church,122 Ladbroke Rd, Redhill RH1 1LF at 10.00am on Friday 12th May, followed by a burial service at Bandon Hill cemetery, Plough Ln, Wallington SM6 8JQ.
Everyone is welcome afterwards at the Greyhound Pub, 2 High St, Carshalton SM5 3PE from 1.00pm for food and drinks. Thank you.

Mrs Leigh was a really really lively lovely lady, always good for a chat and a bit of putting the world right. I lived near the leigh family for several decades and Mrs and Mr Leigh were neighbours and friends. They are together now resting in God's peace xx
