In loving memory of Basil John Renshaw (Bas) who passed peacefully away on 13th March 2023.

He leaves behind his beloved family: son Richard, daughters Sheila and Sarah, grandchildren Sam, James and Richard and great grandson Scott, as well as his large extended family both in the UK and Australia.

He was devoted to his beloved Nina and was married to her for 68 years. He missed her enormously when she passed away in 2021.

Basil always loved his garden, a passion he inherited from his father. He spent a huge amount of time digging, weeding, growing fruit, vegetables and flowers. He loved collecting seeds and propagating plants.

He derived much pleasure from solving crossword puzzles, particularly cryptic ones and often had many on the go at once.

He was devoted to his family, enjoying outings and activities, supporting every one of his children and grandchildren in their various activities and always with a smile and twinkle in his eyes. He was deeply interested in his family history and has traced the family tree back to the 17th century, using his computer to explore and trace records and record the results.

Ever the gentleman, Bas charmed whoever he met young and old. He was dearly loved by all and will be deeply missed.

If you are unable to attend the funeral service but would still like to “be there”, we are having a webcast which will be broadcast live, and which will then be available for 28 days. Please contact the family for details.

Thank you for taking the time to read this snippet of a biography and if you feel able to leave any messages or memories of Bas, that would be wonderful.

Last but not least ~ Don’t worry about a thing, ‘cos every little thing gonna be all right.

In loving memory of our dear Uncle Basil who always had a huge hug readily available and a smile and twinkle in his eyes. He always had great stories to tell and a listening ear. Most recently he always had witty comments to make on our posts on Facebook! Always in our thoughts and will be greatly missed.

Uncle Basil appeared to be quite computer “savvy” and I have memories of him proudly showing and explaining to me both his “on-line” and “off-line” exploits in tracing the family tree.
