In loving memory of David Hugh Arthur Evans who gloriously passed away on 4th March 2023 at home surrounded by family and friends having previously annoyed his fellow hospital patients thanks to the inundation of friends he had come to visit. Says it all...

David beat the actuaries predictions of not lasting beyond his 70's and therefore cherished every day living life to the full, ultimately reaching the grand age of 90 and able to look back on a life well lived. When the time came, he was ready to go having achieved all he wanted to with a successful career, loving marriage and a son who, for reasons best known to him, he was inordinately proud of :o)

He's been described as a character, a force of nature and an all round good bloke. All of this is true, but as well as being a great golfer, raconteur, entertainer, and generous to a fault, he was also a great husband and father, as well as, a very successful architect with monuments to his talent dotted around the globe, and more recently in the life changing designs he did for friends and family.

Perhaps what is less well known is that in years gone by, he also lived a life straight out of an Ian Fleming novel acting as an architect by day and a policeman by night during the Mau Mau uprisings in Africa, sipping Martinis and racing Gullwing Mercedes. A full on international man of mystery.

We look forward to sharing stories and celebrating his life!

David will be missed at annual RIBA Inter-Regional Golf competition. He gifted us with his wonderful presence, that wonderful voice of his, and he left his footprints on many golf courses and with the many participants who played and enjoyed his wonderful company. Fondly thought of and remembered by the entire RIBA Golfing community. John Reid, Captain, RIBA Int. Golfing Society
