In loving memory of Professor Anthony Charles Thiselton who, on 7th February 2023, sadly passed away peacefully to be with the Lord, following a severe stroke on 30th January 2023 from which he never recovered.

Rev Canon Prof Thiselton PhD, D.D., Hon D.D., F.K.C., FBA had a long and distinguished career in Christian Theology specialising in Hermeneutics. Far from any sense of entitlement, he was always aware of God’s grace, and having been told at an early age that meningitis had left his eyesight inadequate for study he never dreamt he would author more than thirty books on theology, the Bible and philosophy; books that enjoy circulation in America, Canada and elsewhere; that some would reach India and China; and that others would be translated into languages including Korean and Russian.

He was Principal of St John’s College with Cranmer Hall, Durham University; and of St John’s College Nottingham, and Professor at Nottingham University and of Chester University. He was appointed by the Minister of Health to serve on the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority, and also stood on the Crown Nominations Commission (2000-2010) with responsibilities including recommending a candidate to be the next Archbishop of Canterbury to her majesty Queen Elizabeth.

We thank God for his life, his far-reaching Christian influence and achievements and that now he is finally at rest with no more suffering. Please pray for Rosemary and the family.

The Service of Thanksgiving will be streamed online and can be accessed on St Mary’s Church Attenborough YouTube site on 4th March @2pm. (https://www.youtube.com/@attenboroughchurch5425/streams specifically https://m.youtube.com/live/pEA4Xz9KUlg)

I was one of Tony's first Phd students back in Sheffield before the department became famous. He always struck me as someone of immense integrity - he was SO meticulous in all his books that everyone should get credit for their thoughts. It was his hermeneutics course in 1974-5 which was key to my future academic work and I will always be grateful for his kindness and grace.

*Greetings!!*
*I'm writing this message with a heavy heart to say my Sympathy to the entire family of Mr. Anthony Charles Thiselton For their loss!!*

*Notwithstanding, I'm so sorry to hear about your father's death. He was such an outstanding individual, who makes so many histories in the field of academia. I hope you can find solace that his time has ended, and he has returned home to God.*

*However, Please accept my deepest sympathies with the death of your father. God in his mercy has ended his long time on earth and called him home. May God's love and mercy comfort you and your family.*

*Also, Losing a parent leaves an empty place in your heart and pain in your heart, but God in his mercy offers comfort with the promise of eternal life through Jesus Christ, Amen. This means you will one day have a joyous reunion in the kingdom of God. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers every day.*

*May his gentle soul rest in peace, Amen!!*

*R. I. P. Dad until we meet again.
