I got to know Merv after he volunteered to help in the garden at ellenor. Merv, who of course had been in the Merchant Navy, joined around the same time as Bill who had been in the Royal Navy and between them they had seen the world and had numerous stories to compare. Merv was very fit and agile and would put his heart and soul into any job and many’s the time I was worried that he would overdo it. It was a real pleasure to have worked with him and got to know him a truly lovely man. It was great to meet and put faces to his family who he was so proud of and talked so much about. R.I.P.
