In loving memory of June Williams, mum to Gary & Sarah. Nana to Megan, Charlie, Owen, Holly & Emily, sadly passed away on 2nd January 2023. It was mums wish that only family flowers be sent for the funeral. Anyone wishing to donate to her chosen charity MacMillan Cancer Support, can do so here.

Mum was born in Liverpool on 20th June 1945 and spent her childhood living in Speke, a small town on the outskirts of the city. She later met and married Trevor, moving away from Liverpool and eventually settling in Nottingham where they lived happily for many years. Together they purchased 94 Calverton Road in Arnold, which became the family home where both Sarah and I spent our childhood. Most of mums working life in Nottingham was spent at Meridian on Coppice Road working as a seamstress, hanging up the sewing machine when Meridian closed its doors for the final time. Mum had a few jobs to fill her days after that, working her last few shifts behind the bar at Mum & Dads local, The Longbow on Calverton Road. Life changed for mum in February 2002 when Dad passed away, and things would never be the same again. The arrival of 5 grandchildren created many happy times to entertain her in the following years, but the loss of her beloved husband was never far from her thoughts. Mum had struggled, as so many others had, with the isolation of the Covid pandemic. This time the struggle proved too much. Her love of the family home and the connection to Dad, who’s ashes had been scattered in his favourite place in the garden, meant she was never leaving 94 Calverton Road. When mum said she wasn’t doing something, well that was that. Mum passed away peacefully in her sleep in the place she felt most safe, most happy and more importantly, in charge. She was going out her way, and sadly on 2nd January that is exactly what she did.

RIP Mum xXx
