In loving memory of Peter Raymond Thompson who sadly passed away on 9th January 2023

Peter Thompson was a kind, loving husband to Aileen, and wonderful, supportive father to his daughters Wendy and Joanne. He loved his six grandchildren and was always interested in what they were doing, encouraging them and guiding them through life’s challenges as they grew up and he was proud of his three great grandchildren too. He went home to the Saviour he loved suddenly and unexpectedly on 9th January, having been admitted to hospital following a couple of falls, three days earlier. He was our rock: reliable, consistent, clever, creative, witty, talented, generous and caring.

Peter worked for Crescent Shipping for many years as an accountant and manager, and later in life was a highly committed and inspirational primary school teacher. He loved art, literature, sport, gardening and music and he had a huge bank of general knowledge. He appreciated beauty and nature and enjoyed travelling but he was a very contented man who also just loved his home. His Christian faith was deep rooted and he lived out his faith quietly with honesty, integrity and consistency.

Peter’s family meant the world to him and we loved him so much. We know he’s with his Lord now but feel heartbroken that he’s no longer with us.

A funeral service will be held at Medway Crematorium on Wednesday 8th February at 9am followed by a service of thanksgiving at St Stephen’s Church, Chatham at 11:00am. Friends and family are invited to the Bridgewood Manor Hotel for refreshments from 12:30pm. Flowers from immediate family only and donations to the British Heart Foundation will be gratefully received (the link to which can be found at the top of the page).
