Lesley Marvell was a loving and caring wife, mum, grandma, sister, and friend. She left our world suddenly on 6th January 2023 aged 79, following a short illness.

She was born to Leonard and Dorothy Davies on 18th July 1943. Lesley was the 2nd eldest of 4 and sister to Jean, Jan and Stan, spending their early years in Dishforth, North Yorkshire. The family moved to various RAF bases including St Athan in South Wales, before finally settling in Kent where her parents opened a newsagents in Rochester High Street. Here she met her husband of 57 years, Robert Marvell, and they had 3 daughters: Caroline, Alison and Philippa.

Her family was her world; she gained great pleasure, in particular, from spending time with her grandchildren: Lizzie, Alex and Dilan. She was a keen gardener and had a passion for reading and puzzles.

A funeral service will be held at Medway Crematorium on Thursday 9th February at 1pm. Family flowers welcome and donations to the Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA), a charity close to Lesley's heart, will be gratefully received (the link to which can be found at the top of the page).

I will miss my cousin Les, a lovely lady. I think she was the prime mover in keeping the contact between the “Rennison” cousins (Davies, Tranter and Rennison). Always so enthusiastic and bubbly and whenever we met, or chatted on the phone, it was always a pleasure. I have fond memories of family get togethers in Dishforth, Rochester (for the World Cup in ‘66) and parties in Knaresborough.
