In loving memory of Allen Quinney who sadly passed away on 18th June 2022.
Allen valiantly battled with cancer for almost four years without ever complaining. He was a dedicated husband, father, and colleague. At heart, he was a family man who was proud to be the eldest of three brothers of whom he was deeply fond.
Although he was a selfless man who gave all his time to his work and family, with his work colleagues being like a second family to him, in his spare time he was always on the go and he enjoyed exploring either walking with his dog or cycling on his bike. Despite mostly watching sport as he got older, when he was young he was an enthusiastic sportsman who engaged in cross-country, football, squash and marathons. His enthusiasm for sport is something he passed on to his children and he continuously supported them with their football, rugby and hockey.
Above all, Allen was kind, thoughtful, generous, and unwaveringly loyal and supportive. He will be greatly missed and never forgotten.

As children we often spent our summer in Herne Bay with our cousins ‘The Quinneys’. There was only laughter and fun to be had. Bike rides and many days spent on the beach. Allen had a teddy which went everywhere with him. He would always hit us with the teddy shouting ‘Teddy ker bonk’!!!
When Ian and I married he kindly gave Ian’s aunt, a formidable woman Dane Alison Munro, a lift home. He charmed her into submission (which is no mean feat) and also terrified her by turning round and talking to her whilst driving down the motorway at 80mph.
A kind a generous person who will be sadly missed.

Legend of Allen. Was working with him 15 years ago way before Google maps. I was driving back and got to the A66 and hit traffic. I phoned Allen and he said what can you see, so described my surrounds and he said dive off to the right and said it looks like a field and he just said it’s not do it. So I am driving through this “field” saying are you sure. He just kept yelling keep going and sure enough I got to a road and he guided me around the crash. He was an outstanding kind man and every loved him for the way he was. My condolences to the family and if ever need anything just reach out

Regardless of the weather, if a walk was scheduled you were going even if it was blowing a gale and bucketing down. Do you know what, they are the ones I now remember most fondly. Happy days. Rest peacefully Dad, love you x

So sad to hear this but knew it was coming.
I will always remember Allen answering my phone calls with a “Hello Sue at the garage”. No other customer says it quite the way he did and that will make me sad.
He was a good person and James, Grace and I will always have fond memories of him.

I worked for Allen at Duracell, many, many years ago and in the search for former colleagues found this sad news. Allen moved from one division to another at Duracell and inherited me as his secretary. I'll be honest, at first we clashed heads, Allen had his way of doing things, but they were generally the best way. He would delight in throwing down the gauntlet of new challenges. One memorable day Allen discovered he didn't have the information he needed on which batteries could be assembled on which machinery so I was dispatched to the shop floor, much to the confusion of the supervisors. I loved every minute. I'll remember Allen as a decent, honest, lovely person to work for and most of all the twinkle in his eye when he had thought of a new challenge to throw down. I am so sorry for your loss. Rest in Peace Allen.
