In loving memory of David Michael Dugdale who sadly passed away on 13th June 2022.
Dave you was my husband. My friend and my love. You came into my life 12 years ago and we had some wonderful adventures together. You were funny and often sarcastic but very laid back.Although our time was short I wouldn't have changed it for the world. You were one of the most kindest, loving. Considerate men I have ever known. We've battled this thing together for the last 5 years and it broke my heart watching you deteriorate day by day knowing there was nothing more that could be done. You are my life my heart and my soul. Sleep tight my darling till we are together again. Love you always and forever. Debbie. Xxxxx

A poem made for you Dad read by Julie at your funeral:

Dad you never said "im leaving",
We never got to properly say goodbye,
For more than two years now we missed out on our one to one special time,
Dad you were gone before we knew it that night,
And only God knows why.

A million times we needed you,
A million times we cried,
If love alone could have saved you,
You never would have died.

In life we loved you dearly Dad,
In death we love you still,
In our hearts you hold a place forever that no one could ever fill.

We love you Dad xx

As read by Julie at your funeral:

Our Dad David Micheal Dugdale was born on the 10th of June 1962, first child to Maureen Dugdale & David Dugdale. A year later he became a big brother to Alan, then Tracy and finally Gary.

Dad often told us stories about him coming back from playing football with his siblings and friends, being all muddy and his mum getting him to strip down by the door so he wouldn’t walk the mud through. He always spoke about his dream to become a footballer as he loved the game but didnt make the cut unfortunately. Dads love of football followed him throughout life as a big Arsenal supporter alongside the rest of the Dugdales who are all Arsenal mad.

Dad started doing a paper round at a young age and then followed the Few family tradition by becoming a post man at the age of 16. He would often tell us stories about being chased by dogs whilst he was on his rounds including one dog so desperate to get him that it jumped through glass to chase him which explained why we never got that dog we wanted as children - dad was terrified for a long time.

Dad met our mum in 1985 whilst working as a delivery driver in a florist before starting work as a civil servant for DWP where he worked for 19years. Dad and mum spent 27 years together, out of this came 3 children Emma in 1989, David in 1991 and Julie in 1996. We remember going to help dad out in his office on the weekends as young children, helping with the photocopy machines, being pushed by dad in the post trolley and spinning in the office chairs, always a fond memory!

As a family we shared many happy memories together whilst growing up including days out and family holidays. We recall Dad making us walk everywhere to explore places, particularly when on holidays. Dad enjoyed being out and about and would often spontaniously get us out of the house on the weekends for a random adventure. Most Sundays were spent listening to Dad in the kitchen making a roast and singing away whilst banging the sides to imitate drums to his favourite wacky tunes which are fond memories for us now.

Dad was always a keen pool player alongside his brothers Alan and Gary and later on his son David. He was well known by many through the game and had many lifelong friends that he made from the pool league/county. Dads cue was his pride and joy and was like his third arm.

As we grew up Dad was still that consistantly annoying Dad who would drive us nuts with his dark, dry humour. We all went on to have our own children in early adulthood so dad become a granddad to 8 beautiful children who he loved very much. Starting with Zain, Tiffany, Zara, Riley, Kalie, Ruby, Poppy and finally Amaana.

Dad's legacy will live on through our kids, we have many stories and memories to tell his grandkids about him as they continue to grow so he wont ever be forgotten.

The news we feared has come today
Our Dear Friend Duggy has passed away
A Friend and Pal we’ll miss so much
With only memories we can now touch

With a talent for pool and stamina at the bar
The Masters were formed, the boys would go far
Four good friends made a bond for life
Sobeit they would cause some trouble and strife

The Masters, they meet once every year
Along with playing pool they sample the Beer
I’m sure that now they will become
A time we pay tribute to our special chum

We raise a glass to our special friend
Who we will miss to the very end
Dave remains in our hearts and our memories too
We’re gutted to lose a legend like you
