Roy Carr sadly passed away on 10th May 2022, aged 82. Roy was born in Grimsby and lived there for much of his childhood. He relocated to Norwich with his parents Eva and Harry and his brother John. When he left school, Roy moved to Bristol to study and became a chartered mechanical engineer - devoting most of his working life to the development of aeroplane engines. For much of his career, he worked at Rolls Royce in Bristol. Soon after moving to Bristol, Roy met Jean and they married in 1962. They had Amanda and Simon, who were born and brought up in Bristol. Roy's interests and skills extended to many things. He was renowned for his amateur dramatics sound effects and was much sought after by local groups. Roy also played the piano and enjoyed caravan holidays with his family. Jean and Roy moved to Selston to be near Amanda and Simon, who had moved to the Midlands with their work. Regrettably, Roy was diagnosed with Alzheimer's and was not able to enjoy a long retirement. He spent the last 13 years of his life in a nursing home. Roy will be greatly missed by his loving family.

I only knew Roy from his early time in the care home but he was always seemingly content and chirpy despite being quiet. I have thought about him, and Jean, ever since I was there. Sending much love to the family xx

I was so sorry to hear of them passing of Roy. I have some very fond memories of his “New Outlook” days. He loved his pudding and we always saved him extra. Roy had a lovely smile and laughed a lot.
Please accept my sincere condolences. Much love to Jean and the family. Xx
