About Us

South Downs Natural Burial site in Petersfield, Hampshire is a tranquil woodland area which offers a relaxed environment for those who like the idea of green funeral.

The woodland burial ground sits at a corner of South Downs National Park and offers stunning views over Hampshire Downs. The natural ecosystem at the Park has been nurtured to evolve into a home to diverse varieties of wildlife, small animals, birds, insects and wildflowers. Mourners are encouraged to plant flowers to help grow the natural woodlands.

This eco-friendly site is open to burials only. Cremated remains cannot be scattered or buried. All graves are dug by hand to minimise any disturbance to the natural environment and families can participate by digging and backfilling the grave.

The site welcomes informal visits, but do make an appointment if you want to be guided around the site. Please note that vehicles cannot access the burial grounds - staff will offer transport on the day of the funeral.
