Seven Penny Meadow
About Us
Seven Penny Meadow is a beautiful natural burial site in Medomsley, County Durham, overlooking the Derwent Valley. Established in 2001, the site is owned by independent funeral directors, Go as You Please, and provides an alternative to traditional burials for those who would prefer an eco friendly funeral.Spread over four acres, the site has become home to lots of wildlife and is open to visitors coming to remember a loved one, or simply to enjoy the outdoor space.
From a night time funeral to simple graveside service with tea and biscuits, families are free to hold a service that suits their requirements. The team is happy to support and advice families who want to conduct a green burial independently. There is a designated area for the burial of ashes.
On-site facilities include the use of “The Lodge” a cosy building which can be used to hold a wake, reception or celebration. Seating areas are available around the site for those who would like to take some time to grieve or reflect on the life of the person who has died.
This woodland burial ground has plenty of parking available.
