Norfolk Bluebell Wood
The natural burial ground at Old Park Meadow is a tranquil resting place in the Essex countryside, an ideal choice if you are looking to organise a green funeral. The stunning woodland burial site in Chelmsford is spread across 34 acres of wildflowers and meadows and is home to a variety of flora and fauna.
The site offers natural burials, the interment of ashes in the woodland area or the meadows. Over time the graves will blend into the woodlands to create a natural living memorial to honour the life of the person who has died. The site is open to people from all backgrounds, cultures and beliefs and the team are able to offer their services to support all kinds of funerals - humanist, modern, religious or traditional.
At the premises is the Old Park Lodge, a spacious glass and larch building (seats up to 300) which can be reserved to host a wake or reception. The venue has a number of facilities including disabled access, excellent acoustics with an audio system and catering/refreshments.
Old Park Meadow has several memorial options including engraved slate memorial plaques, teak benches, wooden grave markers or an engraved leaf on a copper memorial tree. Bereaved families can also choose to sponsor a native memorial tree or a wildlife box that helps to provide a habitat for a chosen species over three years (choose from birds, bats, butterflies, ladybirds or bees). Families can also choose to remember the person who has died by penning a few lines in the Book of Remembrance.
