Atlantic Rest Natural Burial Ground in Penlow Field, Bude, Cornwall was open in 2014 to provide local families with a natural or woodland burial choice.

The owners are happy to work with bereaved families to organise a personalised green burial in accordance with their wishes. Any kind of religious or non-religious service can be conducted at the burial grounds. Families can choose to have a ceremony or service a few days before the burial or even at the graveside just before the burial takes place. Some families choose to say a few words at the graveside, sing or play an instrument, recite poetry, have a toast or lay flowers on the coffin. The service can be led by the family or a celebrant or minister as preferred.

All coffins, caskets, urns and shrouds used for the green burial should be made from biodegradable materials such as bamboo, willow, cotton, wool or cardboard.

Bereaved families are allowed to plant wildflowers at Atlantic Rest Natural Burial Ground, and the seeds are supplied free of charge by staff. Wooden memorial plaques are also available to purchase. Open all year around, burial plots can be purchased in advance or at the time of need. Make an appointment if you wish to have a tour of this natural burial ground, or to purchase a site.
