From the start to the finish the service was excellent. The staff (Joanne) was very supportive and understanding. We very confident with the procedure. Joanna was brilliant from our 1st phone call right through to the actual day, she was always kind and understanding, ready to answer any questions, she guided me through the whole process, nothing was too much trouble. We were also able sort things from a distance as I live in Norfolk and my dad was in Nottingham. On the day Joanna ensured everything went smoothly and called me in advance to talk me through the whole funeral.
The whole service provided by Lymns was excellent from start to finish.
A.W. Lymn’s Clifton funeral home, located at Charworth House on Varney Road, has been serving the local community since 1990. Originally converted from a butcher’s shop, the premises were transformed into a warm and welcoming space.
For more than 35 years, the Clifton team has been a dedicated part of the local community—supporting charitable causes, helping families arrange personal and meaningful funerals, and proudly contributing to projects such as the Clifton War Memorial.
The branch is managed by Funeral Director Joanna Widdowson and is overseen by Senior Funeral Director Edward Martin, ensuring continuity of high standards and compassionate care.
A.W. Lymn has exciting plans for the future of the Clifton branch. In 2021, the company purchased Bob Sherwin’s garage on Southchurch Drive, which was demolished to make way for a purpose-built, state-of-the-art funeral home. Construction is due to begin in 2025, marking a new chapter in the provision of local funeral care.
This branch is ideally situated to serve Clifton, Clifton Village, Clifton Grove, Wilford, Gotham, East Leake, The Meadows, Silverdale, Lark Hill retirement complex, Thrumpton, Kingston upon Soar, Barton in Fabis, and surrounding areas.
As part of A.W. Lymn The Family Funeral Service, a fifth-generation family-run business founded in 1907, the Clifton team remains committed to upholding a long-standing tradition of personalised and dignified funeral services. The company is led by directors Nigel, Matthew, and Jackie Lymn Rose.

In a time of confusion, emotions and the ability to think straight in what is a very short time to organise the burial of loved ones, you need support and clarity from complete strangers to guide you through both the process of but also the moment of great emotional out pouring on the day, you will not do wrong by asking and putting your trust in Lymn''s to assist in everything that is very new to anyone, the guidance through the professionalism of all the staff before, on the day and after is more than just a business to them.
They are human too and understand everything that is alien to the individual.
Many thanks to Joanna and especially Nigel for their personal support in our moment of time of reflection for mum.

From start to finish Neil was looked after with dignity and respect ,nothing was too much trouble for the people involved in the arrangements of his funeral,Joanna in particular was patient and pointed us all in the right direction with her gentle manner and etiquette I found that very comforting throughout,the drivers Rob and Dave were dignified and gracious on our last journey with Neil .
I would certainly recommend to anyone this team of people who made a very heartbreaking time a whole lot easier
