The experience was mixed rating from excellent - the day that mum was collected from home and the way the funeral proceedings were directed on the day, to way below the standards expected in terms of the arranging and communications. The initial appointment was impersonal, felt too business oriented, not very private and cost driven -we left with leaflets and felt we were researching most stuff for ourselves and lacked confidence that Co-op would deliver on the day, which was a worry. We were also shocked and distressed to learn that mum was not where we thought she was "...resting in our central facility". The failure to confirm our understanding also led to extra costs being incurred. Some of this was due to lack of experience on the part of the funeral arranger and staff holidays, but also lack of quality assurance on part of the management - please check quality of emails sent on behalf of the business. I really think that basic GSCE English is to be expected and "shouty" emails where text is emboldened and in red is not appropriate when emotions are raw and people are grieving the loss of a loved one. We did feel so insecure that we made an out of hours call over the weekend, and the duty director was excellent in allaying many of our concerns. It was additionally distressing to learn a couple of days before the funeral, that against all my expectations that I had failed the soft credit check and that the funeral should be paid for before the date set. This ultimately did not occur but again added further to the distress of the situation and again emphasised the priority of the Co-op receiving payments due rather than as the experts, checking our understanding of what was required leading up to the day.

This was a new experience for me, which, to be honest, I was dreading. Jess and Tracey and their team took care of everything including my anxiety. Always there to listen, help and advise with patience, kindness and expertise. Can't thank them enough, from start to finish they treated myself and my auntie with the upmost respect and dignity. Jess, you're a gem and a big thank you. Love Ann x

    All of the staff at the Hall Lane branch were caring , professional and respectful to both my family and my mum . Mums funeral on the day ran smoothly and I feel that mum would have been happy with the day . Thank you once again .

    You handled all the arrangements for Mums celebration of life with sympathy and professionally.Martin McNally our celebrant was especially helpful and her service was extremely personal.It is of bourse an exceptionally difficult time,not made any easier by family feuds but as her daughter I know Mum would have been happy that all her requests were met with the care she deserved.

    It’s unfortunate to write but we have had excellent service twice in 9 months. Firstly for our Mother and then for our Father.
    Suzanne and co have done a great job for our Family twice.
    But Thanks to all those involved from the consultation to the final journey day.
    The Co-op are a trusted and professional service not only for the Funeral, but we have chose them to handle the Probate, Sale of the Family Home and also the Legal side of that once sold.

    Tracy, Suzanne and the rest of their team were absolutely first class. From the first phone conversation they reassured and advised us at every step.
    They took control and dealt perfectly with all aspects of the funeral process from coroner to church, cemetery and burial. They arranged a meeting of all family members within the first week of contact and guided us through making the right choices with sensitivity, compassion and total professionalism. I cannot recommend them highly enough.

    I was very happy with mum's funeral, especially with Tracy who ran things on the day. The only issue I had was confusing a call from co-op financial services thinking they were giving me a date for the funeral when it was to review finances.
