How much does a funeral cost?

The cost of a funeral depends on where you are in the UK and whether you choose a burial or a cremation. Natural burial is becoming increasingly popular, but can often be more expensive than burial in a traditional cemetery. The cost of coffins, flowers, catering and transport also varies a lot. There is also an almost unlimited list of options for personalising a service, such as professional funeral singers or a motorcycle-hearse. You can compare the price of funeral directors on Funeral Guide.

From the moment we walked into to Ewell Village office Sylvia made us feel at ease and was extremely informative about the different options we had for our Fathers burial. Sylvia made all the phone calls to arrange the day and nothing was too much trouble. Constantly keeping us in the loop of arrangements and progress with order of service etc. On the day Adam Greenwood and his team were very professional and again made us feel at ease. Paul and I received a first class service and are grateful to them all. Julie and Paul (John Kenny's Daughter and Son)

I’d just like to say a huge thank you to everyone concerned with the funeral of my, much loved, sister-in-law, Sonia Litten. My first contact with Greenwoods was a telephone conversation with Sylvia, the manager of your Ewell Village office. She explained exactly what I needed to do and who I needed to contact. Sylvia was patient, professional and at no time pushy. Within a few minutes of walking in to your office, I knew that I had made the right choice. I was greeted by Lisa who immediately made me a, very tasty, mug of coffee! She was great and helped me through each step of what could have been a very daunting experience. I never felt under any pressure, in fact just the opposite. At one stage when I was struggling emotionally, Lisa got up, without saying a word, and made me another coffee. She then went the ‘extra mile’ and gave me a great tasting cookie! Now this may not be ‘official’ company policy but it definitely worked for me! At my request, Alan Greenwoods handled the flowers, the printing, the music (Elvis Presley), and recommended the celebrant, Malcolm Cook, who did an amazing job. Even last minute changes I requested were sorted without any fuss or drama. I must make mention of the on-line obituary service which, in my opinion, is brilliant and I’ll definitely keep it updated. The drivers, coffin bearers and Attendant all did an excellent job. They treated Sonia with dignity and respect. What impressed us all was the way they interacted with everyone there. They weren’t stuffy or aloof and it was obvious that they really cared. Even the route to the crematorium was chosen thoughtfully. Thanks again guys. In conclusion, I’d like to say another huge thanks to you all for your help, advice, attention to detail and compassion. You gave Sonia the perfect send off and for that I will be eternally grateful. With special thanks to: Sylvia and Lisa for everything! Malcolm Cook for conducting a brilliant service. Careprint for the excellent printing. BBL Floral Design (Ewell) for the beautiful flowers. Randalls Park Crematorium for their great facility. Alan Greenwood & Sons for making it all possible. Best Wishes from Tony Herbert and family.
