This was my first experience of organising a funeral. I had found 2 or 3 other options, one of those was even a recommendation, but something didn't sit right in my gut so I wasn't 100% happy to go with any of those. I continued my search as I decided I wanted an independent local, family business that was not part of the corporate machinery. I landed on Brunskill's website, liked what I read and made contact. In my first conversation with Ed, I had that feeling I'd been looking for, a content confidence that I'm happy to choose Brunskill to manage my Dad's funeral. Ed didn't try to upsell me anything - something that I noticed straight away with another company - he quoted me for what I'd asked for and then also sent through so much really useful information on hymns and all sorts of things. He was so easy to communicate with and so contactable at all times whether text, phone or Whatsapp! He has the exact right tone that you need to hear when you're dealing with something so horrific as saying goodbye to someone you loved so much. Even though Ed has been doing this for many years, he does not sound jaded or nonchalant about your loved one, he sounds like he cares and sympathises and empathises, in a genuine way.


I cannot recommend them highly enough. Much as I don't want to have to make contact with him again for a long time, when the time comes, I will be straight back to Ed without hesitation.

Ed and Josh Brunskill were wonderful from the first telephone call onwards. They were gentle, kind and compassionate, and an absolute pleasure to work with. They provided a fabulous contact for the flowers, sorted out the design and printing of the Order of Service - great quality - and liaised with our chosen celebrant. It was a great comfort to us to have this skilled and professional team at our sides as we navigated the whole process. Highly recommended.

We cannot thank Josh and his family enough for what they did to ensure dads funeral went as well as it could. At such a difficult time Josh was so calming, caring and truly made us feel valued as a customer. Josh organised everything really, we didnt need to stress about a thing he was amazing and it helped hugely that we believed he cared and looked after dad until the funeral day. Ed and his family go over and above to make the last journey for your loved one a special, relaxed, beautiful and moving day.
From the very 1st phone call, I knew I was going to use them.there were so friendly, helpful giving me so many options without being hardcore selling. Nothing was too much for them. A carer for my mother in law from her home rang me after they had collected her to take her to their chapel of rest, said they gave  her so much respect and treated her like a “ glass slipper”. The few guests that were allowed at the ceremony all said how respectful they were, bowing in front of her coffin at all times. They also walked in front of the hurst for far longer than I’ve ever seen.
These people must have invisible angel wings as I’ve never met such kind, helpful, respectful people.
Exceptional service.

I would highly recommend this company, very professional compassionate and friendly father and son team. Ed was very kind and calm with me and my family during our grieving. He gave us lots of ideas and suggestions and organised things beautifully. I was kept informed every step of the way on how the organising was going from the horses to the soloist. Although we are heartbroken from our loss Ed and his son definitely made the process straightforward and took the burden of us.  Thank you x

Words cannot adequately describe nor explain the outstanding service that was provided to us in a time of great grief and need.

Agnes McDonald was laid to rest in the beautiful style she so deserved and for this we thank Ed, Josh, Nikki and the wider team.

I came across Ed and the family after he was highly recommended to me by a mutual friend when I lost Mum, because of that recommendation I already knew mum was going to be in good hands and I wasn’t wrong, even though we are in our third lockdown due to Covid they went above and beyond to help us achieve the most perfect send of for the queen she really was
You catered and knew all about our Jamaican family traditions and went out of your way to help us stick to them, from the recommendations you gave us for the florist all the way through to the funeral cones outside mums house for the day you thought of everything we didn’t and helped us made her proud that day! 

From her red coffin to the beautiful horses Noah and Jacob with their gorgeous purple plumes everything was above and beyond what we could ever imagine I would highly recommend them to anyone who needs them and will be making it clear who they shall be going to when my turn comes x

From the moment I first spoke to Ed at Brunskill's I felt completely at ease and assured that both my Father and Grandson were in completely in safe hands.
Ed and his team arranged everything from the Celebrant, flowers, order of service and video service and their dedication and compassion was exceptional.
I cannot thank Brunskill's enough for their help in what was such a difficult time for our family.
Five star's is not enough to give and if recommendation for funerals is a thing we would have no hesitation whatsoever to put their name forward.

Following a telephone call with Ed of Brunskill Family Funeral Services  I went with my gut feeling & had no regrets at choosing them. I  immediately felt in safe hands.

Ed & his son Josh supported me arranging a funeral from 130 miles away & every request I made  was met to the detail! Ed put me in touch with a wonderful celebrant, he recommended an excellent florist & helped with printing the order of service.  I knew my nephew was in safe caring hands .

They set up a memorial page & organised photo’s for the big screens at the crematorium as well as the webcast.

On the day of the funeral everything went smoothly & was professional; great respect/sensitivity was shown to my nephew that made the ceremony extra special. A rose was placed on the coffin, after the floral tribute was removed, just before the service started, a lovely touch something I  hadn’t considered.

The funeral was just perfect in every way that helped cushion a very emotional & sad day. 

A big thank you to Ed & family; I  couldn’t have asked for a better service.  I had nothing to worry about as you guided me along helping me organise the funeral.

I highly recommend them & I’d give 10 stars if it was possible!  Brunskill Family Funeral Services exceeded all expectations.

One of the hardest times of my life was losing my dad and at 27 never thought I’d have to do this but it was made bearable by the incredible support and help from Josh & his team. He went above and beyond anything I could of asked. Very organised, proactive, thoughtful and as were his team.
Always there to help especially with the little things you might not think of and absolute patience while decisions were made and guided me when I wasn't sure what decision to make.
Even though all our family & friends couldn’t be there Josh made sure the webcam was up and running perfectly and that the service was a true representation of what my dad was all about. We were honoured to be Josh’s first funeral that he led himself from start to finish.

What was the hardest day of my life in cremating my husband, was made bearable by the incredible support and help from Ed. He is organised, proactive, thoughtful and the consummate professional, as were his team.
It's the little things you don't think of and Ed prompted as we made the plans, with infinite patience while I made decisions and guided me when I wasn't sure what decision to make.
I have had multiple messages from family and friends who were with us and those who watched by webcam that the service was truly beautiful.
Thank you so much Ed, you have been nothing short of exceptional.

Ed was so kind and considerate, looking after all our needs at a really difficult time. He was always available if we needed him. He made sure our Dad's funeral was what we wanted & was kind and helpful to my Mum, calling her the day before the funeral to check she was ok & to confirm the arrangements. His son & staff were very helpful & respectful with us all, too.

I cannot recommend these funeral directors highly enough. At a time of great loss and confusion, they made our lives so much easier by dealing with matters efficiently, and yet with great empathy and understanding of our requirements. Nothing was too much trouble for them and any questions we had were answered promptly by Ed Brunskill, who is understanding and accomodating and a pleasure to deal with. Their pricing is extremely reasonable and there were never any hidden costs. You will not regret using them.
