How much does a funeral cost?

The cost of a funeral depends on where you are in the UK and whether you choose a burial or a cremation. Natural burial is becoming increasingly popular, but can often be more expensive than burial in a traditional cemetery. The cost of coffins, flowers, catering and transport also varies a lot. There is also an almost unlimited list of options for personalising a service, such as professional funeral singers or a motorcycle-hearse. You can compare the price of funeral directors on Funeral Guide.

On the whole an excellent service. Staff were very attentive and supportive throughout and nothing too much trouble. Only point to consider is to clarify where to place donation boxes to avoid confusion with people attending funeral.

Louth Co-operative Funeral Service did such a super job on my father's funeral two years ago, that naturally I went to them again when my mother died this year. And as I said during mum's eulogy, it's practically criminal, the hoops the government and various official organizations make you jump through when a loved one dies, but when you hire Louth Co-op, the one thing you don't have to worry about at all is the funeral. They handle absolutely everything, and completely take the stress off you. They think of everything before you even ask. Just leave it to them, you are in the best of hands. On top of the difficulties that Coronavirus prevention added this year to their work, I had a particular request for a change in the chapel layout, but they accommodated it beautifully, and mum's casket and flowers looked lovely, as did the special order of service booklet that they printed perfectly for me. A highly professional and caring service, I couldn't imagine it going better. Thanks again to John and Cathy, and to the Reverend Mansfield who elegantly officiated. I also appreciated how, whether by accident or design, the colour of his vestments matched mum's flowers. It was all perfect.
